Welcome to K.L. Rockwell Art

Thank you for your interest in my art!

Painting wasn’t my first love…I have a minor in music performance and was crushed when my professor (decades ago) told me music wasn’t going to be my path forward. So I did the next best thing…I specialized in the creative by becoming an expert in nonprofit management. 🤭

Throughout the decades my anxiety and stress kept increasing, and my ability to successfully manage it kept decreasing. And then I was gifted an easel and my first set of brushes and everything started to change.

Me the first week of getting my first easel and watercolor set. I had no idea that you shouldn’t let you brushes sit in water. I cringe seeing that. 😬 P.S. my sister knit me those socks. 🤗

Almost instantly life was more colorful than ever before. I could see shades of color where once I only saw “green” or “blue.” After work I would spend hours immersed in watercolor. Like a magic wand, my paint brushes somehow transferred the pent up stress and anxiety onto paper. Moody skies and spooky trees somedays and pensive cats and dancing flowers other days.

I now enjoy sharing my art and my creative journey through Substack. My message is one of encouragement to the aspiring artist. Success is when a viewer sees a painting and is moved to share a memory or feeling.
