I love your cork board with the paints and paintings! Great idea. My oils are piled in a jumble in boxes, originally labelled by colour but now a haphazard collection. My 2025 goal - get a cork board and get organized... 😍

It really is a fun way to store paints. And affordable!

Like you in the beginning I have never taken an art class (in person) I still haven’t, I have purchased many tubes of paint both watercolour (my preference) and acrylic, brushes, paper, books, watched numerous videos and DVD’s, I’ve mixed paints to get other colours, I test before I start, but then as I did a couple of days ago I just played and ended up with something I really love. Today it is back to serious work, let’s see what happens. Thanks for sharing your journey, I’m sure there are many out there who you will have helped today, and thank you once again for sharing some of your lovely art. By the way is that your permanent place of painting? I would have it gross in a day, my art room has timber floors which are sooo forgiving. 😁

Love your beautiful work so much! Thanks so much for mentioning my classes! Painting should be fun and it’s so true that it’s much better to go at it together! Happy painting 💕

Thanks for sharing your creative journey. It sounds both similar and yet unique to my own. You mentioned the idea of maturing in that journey and I truly believe that's what happens to each artist as we grow and expand. We'll said!

I dabble in watercolour and acrylic. There is nothing like the clean clear joy of creating a painting. Here in the UK there is a carpet stain remover that removes paint stains-Dr Beckman. Without it the study carpet would be multi coloured by now. I keep a bottle with my paints!

My solution was to move and then paint over linoleum! 🤭 In all seriousness, thank you for the tip…I am going to google Dr. Beckman.

Your paint tube wall organization is a thing to behold! What a great post for art-makers of all levels - so encouraging and resourceful! Your paintings are beautiful, too. Two things that moved my confidence meter for making marks of any kind was the encouragement from a drawing instructor who said to draw what's in front of one, every day, even just for 5 minutes. The other bit was from a painting instructor at the beginning of my foray into oils, who taught me how to "paint the shape of a particular value. Instead of telling oneself, 'I don't know how to draw (pick an object or person)', just pick one value of whatever it is (still life, another painting or photo) and just draw the shape of that one value". There's so much to learn and discover. This post was inspirational and encouraging. Thanks!! Happy New Year, too.

What a wonderful comment, thank you for sharing! I agree that showing up for a daily practice “moved my confidence meter” too. I also like the take a bite of the apple approach…one bite at a time!
