I love this! My watercolor sketchbook feels like a personal journey and a metaphor for my own growth process (rough starts but generally heading in the right direction).
I think we all have to have a go at experimentation, something I have done a lot of, sometimes it works other times they end up being the ugly, but I still keep them thinking one day I can improve on them, even if it is going over them with acrylic paint instead of watercolour. My favourite out of all this post is the white flowers, so should I have seen that post I would have given it a heart. 💝
Thank you Sally! I tend to rip up paintings that don’t meet my standard…which is such a waste of paper! Good thinking to save them and repurpose or reinvent with another medium.
Back in 2016, I decided to do a Year of Art, one piece every day, and all in one book. One extra loose page was needed as it was a leap year 😁. I posted my work here on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100071884194374. It was challenging, but also fun.
Actually, I liked the second group of watercolors, the grey-tones that didn't go "viral." They were mist intriguing with the use of different shades and highlights. All three held my interest more than the pop-color favorites. Thank you for sharing these.
Thank you Sue! My preferred color selections and landscapes are those moody, misty, mysterious ones. Probably why I live in Oregon and not California. 😉
Also, your technique was more mature in the moody ones. A good command of washes and lost edges. Those two ttechniques are what intrigue me about watercolors over any other medium. And lost edges was really fun to do. I felt like I was really painting then, not just throwing paint on the paper ... although that was fun too.

Even making bookmarks as gifts out of them is another way to go. But it is very tempting to get angry and RIP!
This is so cool! Love all of this. And, while all amazing in their own right, #20 is my personal fave. It's such a powerful image!! 🖤
That was my personal favorite too Megan!!
Very enjoyable read. Mahalo. Learned so much. Love it.
